FAQ's
Where do I start??
This is one of the first questions we get, and that's exactly why we begin with an Initial Assessment.
During this appointment, we'll take the time to thoroughly assess both you and your dog. We'll discuss your goals, your dog's behaviour, your lifestyle, and any challenges you're facing. From there, we'll explain exactly what the training journey is likely to involve and what you can realistically expect.
If you're looking for a training package, we'll recommend the option we believe is the best fit for you and your dog.
We believe in being completely honest from the outset. If, after discussing the training plan, you feel you can't commit whether due to time, finances, or any other reason.. we'll tell you not to proceed. Effective training requires consistency and commitment, and without that, it isn't fair on you, your dog, or our trainers.
Every dog-handler partnership is unique. Not every dog is suited to every package, and that's perfectly ok. Our goal is to recommend the training journey that gives you and your dog the greatest chance of long-term success.
Do you offer remote sessions?
Yes! We offer online and telephone consultations in certain situations.
Remote sessions require detailed background information, along with videos of your dog's behaviour, so we can properly assess what's happening. Every case is assessed individually to ensure that remote coaching is appropriate and will provide the best possible outcome.
How many sessions will I need?
The honest answer is .. dunno!
Every dog, owner and situation is different. Progress depends on consistency, fulfilment, structure, timing and, most importantly, how well the training plan is implemented between sessions.
If you only apply 20% of what we've taught, you can't expect 100% of the results.
Rather than working towards a fixed number of sessions, we create an individual training plan with clear goals and a checklist of skills to work through. We continue supporting you until those goals are achieved.
Quite simply, you get out of the process what you put into it.
What Support is offered?
Our support doesn't end when your session finishes.
We encourage all of our clients to stay in touch, celebrate the wins, discuss the challenges and ask for help whenever they need it.
During your training sessions, we teach you the skills, handling techniques and understanding needed to communicate effectively with your dog. We train you.. you train your dog.
Remember, every interaction with your dog is training, not just your scheduled sessions.
Depending on your package, we also offer:
- WhatsApp support
- Telephone support
- Training walks
- Day Train sessions, where we collect your dog and work on their training while you're busy
Can you help me to introduce my new dog to my existing dogs?
Absolutely.
We offer home visits specifically designed to help safely introduce a new dog or puppy into your household.
Our aim is to create positive relationships from the very beginning, reducing the likelihood of conflict later on. We'll also teach you how to recognise early warning signs, understand your dogs' communication and confidently step in before situations escalate.
Are results guaranteed?
We always strive to achieve the best possible outcome for every dog and owner, and we stand behind the quality of our service.
However, because every dog, owner and situation is unique, specific behavioural results cannot be guaranteed. Success depends on many factors, including consistency, commitment and following the training plan outside of your sessions.
What is balanced dog training?
Balanced dog training is a training philosophy that combines rewards with clear boundaries and appropriate consequences to help dogs learn effectively. It is one of the main alternatives to a positive-only training approach or compulsion training.
There are lots of discussions online about which method is best, and both approaches have passionate supporters. Every dog is different, and what works well for one may not be the best solution for another. The dog must come first before anything.
Many of our clients come to us after spending months or even years of trying positive-only methods without achieving the results they hoped for. While positive reinforcement remains a huge part of our training, we also believe that, when used appropriately and humanely additional tools and techniques can help some dogs learn more clearly and confidently.
The best thing I ever did was starting to use balanced training.
I've lost faith in dog trainers... why should I choose you?
You're not the first person to feel that way. I have been in your shoes.
Many of our clients come to us after working with several trainers, watching endless videos online, trying different methods and spending hundreds or even thousands of pounds without getting the results they were hoping for.
We understand how frustrating and overwhelming that can be.
Our approach starts with honesty. We won't promise quick fixes or guarantee results that nobody can realistically guarantee. Instead, we'll assess you and your dog as individuals, explain exactly what we think is happening, and provide a clear, practical training plan tailored to your situation. We try to keep our sessions and packages affordable. If we cannot help you, we do not take a penny from you.
We also believe that dog training isn't just about teaching the dog it's about teaching the owner. That's why we focus on giving you the knowledge, confidence and support to continue making progress long after each session has finished.
If we don't believe we're the right trainer for your dog, we'll tell you. Likewise, if we feel a particular package or approach isn't suitable, we'll explain why. Our priority is finding the right solution for you and your dog, not selling you services you don't need.
Above all, we're committed to treating every dog as an individual. No two dogs learn in exactly the same way, and we believe successful training comes from understanding the dog in front of us not forcing every dog into the same repeated system.
We train pet dogs for pet homes; not sport dogs.
Our goal isn't just to improve behaviour. It's to help you build a calmer, safer and more enjoyable life with your dog.
