About Clumber K9

Who are we?

Hi, I’m Shelby – the face behind Clumber K9 Dog Training & Behaviour.

Through studying dog behaviour and learning directly from some of the UK’s leading trainers, I’ve developed effective, compassionate techniques tailored to real-life dogs with real-life challenges.

From reactivity - to touch aversion, we got you!

As a teenager, my long-awaited first dog was, unfortunately, euthanised following a serious resource guarding incident - one in which I was the victim. While the experience was deeply painful, it didn’t deter my love for dogs. Instead, it sparked a deep curiosity about canine behaviour. I became determined to understand what had gone wrong and how such outcomes could be prevented. That tragic event became the catalyst for my lifelong interest in dog behaviour and welfare.

Later, I worked in a gun dog kennel and eventually took some time away from the training world. But everything changed when Ronnie - my curly red whirlwind - entered my life. He brought with him every behavioural challenge imaginable, and to be honest, he’s been my greatest teacher. Supporting Ronnie, a nervous and sensitive dog, meant I had to adapt, learn, and show up better - for him.

I had to rebuild our relationship and stop wrapping him in cotton wool. Instead, I began teaching him resilience through gradual, layered stress exposure. Helping him grow in confidence has been both a challenge and a privilege - and it’s taught me more than any textbook ever could.

Then came Walter, a rescue with his own set of quirks and wobbles. Together, we’ve faced a fair few mountains, often returning to the drawing board and learning as we go.

These dogs - and all of my past experiences - have become the driving force behind my passion for helping other dogs and their owners.

Since 2023, I’ve had the honour of supporting a variety of clients through my 5⭐ rated service Clumber Walkies, and have since expanded into training and behaviour support for owners who need more than just a walk.

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply unsure where to begin — I’d love to help.

Why offer dog behavioural training & coaching?

Because I’ve lived it. I’ve been in your shoes - walking home in tears after another stressful outing, wondering if I was doing anything right. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, know that you’re not alone. This is just part of the journey.

I truly get how tough it is when your dog is struggling with behavioural issues. We love our dogs deeply, which is exactly why it’s so hard when things aren’t going smoothly. We just want the best for them — a happy, balanced life.
